We provide a full range of prepress services, both electronic and traditional. High resolution drum scanning, imagesetting, electronic and mechanical proofs, even old-school camera work; we've got the experience and equipment to make it right.
Drum Scanning
Estey Printing offers a full array of scanning services, from black and white line art scans to high quality color separations with digital or conventional proofs. Though we use a top-of-the-line drum scanner from Screen USA, our real advantage is the experience of our scanner operator, who brings 20 years of color knowledge that still cannot be matched by automated systems. All of our scans include a color Sherpa proof at no extra charge. You can see what youre getting before it gets on press.
Standard turnaround for scanning jobs is 24 hours; same-day turnaround available.
Film Imagesetting
Four-color separations, high line screen, silk screen, and jobs that require advanced trapping or vignettes are all easily handled by our Agfa Avantra imagesetter. The advanced prepress tools found on our workstations make short work of sophisticated color trapping, spot varnish plates, and a host of other tasks which are difficult or impossible using traditional Macintosh or Windows graphics applications.
Standard turnaround for imagesetting is 24 hours; same-day turnaround (as quick as two hours!)available.
Proofing
We offer a full range of complementary proofing services, using state-of-the-art methods for both conventional (analog) and digital color. AgfaJet Sherpa 44 digital prints offer the same color quality, directly from your digital art files without film.

About the AgfaJet Sherpa 44
This contract proofer is the result of a marriage between Epson’s proven hardware and Agfa’s color-management software technology. Contract in this sense is printer jargon for our promise to you that the printed piece will look just like this proof (well, within reason, of course).We offer two flavors of proof options off the 1440 x 720 dpi high-resolution inkjet printer. Specially formulated resin-coated photograde Satin paper and acid-free Artist Canvas have been manufactured to strict color tolerances that provide the best possible results.
The Satin paper behaves remarkably like analog proofs from our recent past while the Canvas paper provides an artistic finish for portraits and fine art reproductions.
The seven color Sherpa (Cyan, light Cyan, Magenta, light Magenta, Yellow, Black and light Black) is accurate not only for CMYK printing but also most Pantone colors as well. These pigment-based inks will last longer and are truer in color than dye based inks.
The Sherpa was calibrated to our offset presses in order to ensure consistent quality between devices and we often have trouble distinguishing the printed piece from the proof.
Adobe Authorized Print Service Provider
Estey is now an Adobe Authorized Print Service Provider which means we receive up-to-the-minute product information and access to Adobe-related technical support. We’ll also review soon-to-be released software upgrades in advance and offer our two cents’ worth on your behalf. We’re just doing our part to provide you with award-winning printing.
